Shadowlawn Farms
Since 1943, the Reinhold family has managed their land holdings and agribusiness activities. To this day, the land holdings in and around Penney Farms are still known as Shadowlawn Farms. From sustainable forests to agricultural innovation, Reinhold Corporation’s operations reflect our commitment to land stewardship, long-term vision, and the enduring Reinhold family legacy.
Timber and Land Stewardship Today
Reinhold is committed to responsible environmental and land stewardship through the active management of a timber and sod farm. The Reinhold family manages much of its land for sustainable timber production, supplying pulp and paper products as well as lumber that support essential industries. Additional acreage is dedicated to sod production, which is primarily used for new roadways and critical infrastructure. With a long-standing history in agriculture, the Reinhold family continues to balance productivity with conservation, ensuring the land is thoughtfully managed for long-term use and environmental health.

Our Tree - Cathedral Oak®
Live Oaks with their arching canopies and flowing limbs are the true cathedrals of the forest across their range. As the foremost clonal live oak available today, the Cathedral Oak ® and its name honors these magnificent trees and their superior qualities.
A commercial tree nursery operated on the former dairy site from 1987 to 2010 under the name Shadowlawn Nursery.
Planted in January 1992, the tree that became Cathedral Oak® was one of thousands of Live Oaks grown by Shadowlawn Nursery that year. The tree is recognized for its strong structure, branch fullness and rapid growth confirmed its superior quality.
Today, tens of thousands of Cathedral Oak® trees are now produced annually nationwide. The original tree still thrives near the Shadowlawn Farm offices.
Greens Creek Mitigation Bank
Greens Creek is a mitigation bank in Clay County, Florida, serving nearly all of Duval and Clay Counties. Mitigation credits are available to offset federal and state wetland impacts. The bank, one of Florida’s ten largest, features over 4.5 miles of Greens Creek and more than 20 miles of total waterways, which flow into Black Creek and then the St. Johns River. These habitats support significant plant and animal species protected under a conservation easement.
Mitigation activities include wetland enhancement, preservation of bottomland hardwoods and hydric flatwoods, and re-establishment of forests and wetlands, along with over 2,000 acres of uplands to improve wetland function. Preservation also strengthens local and regional conservation corridors, notably connecting the Ocala and Osceola National Forests.
Wildlife Programs and Hunting
Shadowlawn manages hunting leases divided across 28,000 acres. Hunting here emphasizes fellowship and mentoring younger generations, alongside following “fair chase” and game laws. It teaches patience, perseverance, and humility, while allowing enjoyment of the outdoors. Wildlife on the property includes deer, ducks, geese, turkeys, bobcats, coyotes, and more.
Black Creek Deer Management Cooperative
The Black Creek Deer Management Cooperative (BCDMC), started in 2009, aims to improve the deer herd and hunting experience across the 28,000 acres. Leasehold hunt clubs submit harvest and observation data, which a Certified Wildlife Biologist® analyzes to make annual recommendations for herd quality. All clubs work together to manage bucks and does, using collective data to guide decisions. The primary goal is to support a healthy and sustainable deer population.
